Steve Curtis, Founder and Owner
Back in 2006 I discovered that you couldn’t purchase a customizable shed to fit with your backyard, so, I decided to build my own completely customized backyard shed, simple enough that my 12 year old son could help. This first Backyard Shed, which can be viewed in the Projects Gallery under the Classic Backyard Shed, was the inspiration behind the Backyard Shed system and Backyard Works. Since then, I’ve built dozens of Backyard Sheds and now Backyard Studios/Offices and Backyard Homes and my son has just set-off for University to study Engineering.

At a very young age I discovered I loved working with my hands and started building some of the best tree houses in the neighborhood. This is where the shed business really began; in my Backyard!

Experience
Steve Curtis has been a leader in the home improvement business for over 25 years and has been general manager of one of the largest custom log home-building companies in British Columbia, a roofing installation and sales consultant for Home Depot Roofing and the sales manager for one of the largest roofing product distributors in Vancouver, BC. He understands how to gain customer trust and confidence and provide the deliverables.

  • Started building tree houses at a very young age
  • Worked as a home building framer in New Mexico
  • Founded and ran Curtis Renovations, specializing in home additions
  • Ran an Idaho Guest Ranch where we harvested our own logs, made our own lumber and built log cabins
  • Managed one of the largest log home building companies in BC
  • Founding member of BC Log Building Association
  • Sales manager Roofmart commercial division lower mainland, Vancouver, BC
  • Worked in the roofing industry in sales and management
  • Home Depot residential roofing salesman
